96 Missing body mount?

I just hear this tonight. And I'd like to get that 9th and 10th body mount welded on. Which body mount is missing? anyone fix this on a 96 yet? is it all 96's or just some of them?

Steve

Edit, I just crawled under mine, Are the 9th and 10th mounts supposed to go about where the B-Pillar hits the floor, between the front and rear doors???

yes exactly. And if you need the extra body mount, I have a set from Roger Brown with 1" body lift spacers. I didn't weld them on because I was too lazy, couldn't find a welder. So now the body lift is already in.

I haven't had any problems with the missing mount, but I'm at only 1" body lift.

So you have a set of the RB mounts that you didn't install and want to sell? How much?

I bought it for 80 dollars plus shipping. So I'll sell it to you for 65 plus shipping since I haven't even used these yet.

I had mine welded on a few months ago. I hope I wasn't supposed to notice a difference, because I didn't.

I have the 1" RB set like Rob.

You don't have to weld on the 4Crawler body mount brackets, they come with hardware to bolt them to the frame. Probably won't notice a whole lot of difference on the road and w/o a lift, but off road and with a taller lift, the body will be supported better with the extra center mounts. You would likely see less body twisting, especially if you have bumpers or sliders that sit close to the body sheet metal. But they can be used with or without a body lift:

Actually it turns out that i am only about 30 mins from RB. So the price would probably be about the same since i wouldn't have to pay for shipping. and i don't need the BL lift puck. it'd cost me about $75 from him, so i think i'll probably just go that way.

Thanks anyway
Steve

I was the first person to purchase and install the 1" Roger Brown body lift a few years ago, and he made the first prototype bolt on body mount for my truck.

I ended up not using it, and have not had problems since.

I sold the truck to my cousin, and it's still going strong.

I say, you don't need them.

yea I knew he had built them off your truck, but I didn't know you didn't install them. I thought he built them for you.

I've been running the 1" BL for over a year and no problems on road / off road. But it does give you an extra bit of safety just in case it does matter. I would do it just for the heck of it if I had the tools or the space (apartment dweller)

Hi,

Does anyone have a diagram that shows the exact location where these missing body mounts are to be installed?

Thanks.

if you look underneath your rig, you'll see the where mounts and the bolt should go. I think it's pretty obvious if I remember correctly. If not, check roger's link

THey are the mounts that are supposed to be right under/behind the front seats. You can see where they were supposed to go.

It's not the rigidity of the body, or cracking that i am worried about. I'd really like them to be installed for my own safety and my Family's safety in case of a hard side impact. With no support in the middle of the body, there is a chance of buckling where this mount is supposed to go. I don't plan on ever lifting this 4Runner, it will be strictly my family hauler, and maybe hit pismo beach when we want to. but my Taco is for 4Wheeling.
