99 4runner auto trans problems

99 4runner 3.4l 4wd auto and 187k mi. Transmission starting slipping on me one day and would go over 2200 rpm in any gear while in drive. Would rev over that in neutral and low and 2nd. Checked trans fluid and it was burnt up pretty bad. Dark brown. Almost looked like motor oil. Changed the fluid and still the same thing. Tried to put some Lucas trans slip stop in it. Hasn't changed much. Is my transmission shot? Any ideas

Just wondering what kind of tranny? A340F? says it in your door jam, Ever change the fluid in those 187? Gonna say more then likely gone, I noticed toyotapartszone was selling a rebuild kit for my runner along with being able to buy a whole new transmission. I Wouldn't mind picking up a new one for later down the road
