99 4Runner 5VZ just quit

The truck was running fine when the engine died as I was pulling away from a stop sign. The engine turns over but it will not start. It sounds like I have compression.

Here is what I checked so far:

Fuses = OK
Spark = OK
Fuel = OK (disconnected the fuel line and had someone turn the engine over)

Checking timing belt and compression now...

Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Thank you!

Check the EFI and other fuses.

There have been some 99 5vzfe here that have thrown rods out the side, but since yours turns over that does not seem to be the issue here.

Just checked the timming belt. It is still on and the timing marks line up.

Also I have 170 psi compression.

The fuses are ok and I switched the EFI relay with the one right next to it (PWR Outlet).

Any idea what I should check next?

Check all the electrical connectors...MAF, Cam Sensor, etc., also the grounds. Circuit Opening Relay (COR) may have croaked. Break out the FSM and start going through the diagnostic for no start.

Do the exterior, interior, dash lights still work?

In my situation the engine turns over just fine. I have fuel pressure and I have spark. I also double checked that the timing belt is still on the marks.

I checked online and at local wrecking yards and I cannot locate an ECU for my production date. 04/99 3.4 Fed emission with a manual transmission. Let me know if anyone has a spare ECU. The dealer wants $1400 for one.

Thanks
