??? '99-01 hood w/scoop on '97 4runner???

hey i have a friend who has a '97 4runner. she has a friend at a body shop who owes her a favor and he ordered the hood w/ the scoop from the 'highlander' model. the guy a the shop said it doesn't fit on hers because it is an inch too long. i thought it was b.s., just because he doesn't want to take the time to do it. i was wondering if anyone has mede this retrofit for themselves.

thanks for any insight!

Oh wow! I don't know personally, but I find that highly suspect too! I was under the impression that all 3rd gen Runners were very close in specs??? That is definately a mod I'd like to do if I had a non-scoop model

I bet they are afraid of the cost from Toyota, can't imagine thats a cheap hood.

They are full of it! Any hood will fit on any 96-2002 4Runner, scoop or no scoop.

Correct, that hood will fit!

By the way, those hoods are not that expensive...the expensive part is the paint!! $160.00 for the hood, $400.00 to have it painted to match

Multi reflector head lights '99-'02 will fit into '96-'98 with no problem. The once on that site should be multi reflectors since the part number is different than the '96-'98 ones they carry. You may want to call just to verify. Also, here is a link to an Ebay auction that's selling some:
