4 runner chatter
same exact thing has happend to my 4runner. Same description of noise. After i went to start it last week the flexplate would just spin. I replaced the starter hoping to get lucky. Unfortunatly I wasn't that luck. Its at the dealer right now getting a new flexplate, torque converter. Be ready for an expensive repair. In the neighborhood of $2500.

well im glad that i am a mechanic. cause i just had the flex plate delivered to my dealership for $153.52 and that is it. got a huge crack in the flex plate!!!
