Anyway, noticed that my driver's side fog light is shattered (probably from rocks flying up at it), and of course, the bulb is out. So looks like I'll have to fork up $70-100 or whatever the cost is to replace these. Anyone know of a mesh grill or something that will add some protection? I was also thinking of going with a thick layer of lamin-x (lamin-x.com). I'd hate to have to replace them in the future.

Also, I will probably replace the bulb to a yellow color while I'm in there. Seems to work better compared to the OEM white light (comparing mine to my friend's Lexus).

I'm very interested in this as well... My sister just got a 99 4Runner and both of the fog lights were busted. Somewhat strange considering there is no damage to the valence. Seems like someone just punched them out. Is this a fairly common occurrence? I know that on Durangos the left fog light is prone to breaking... but that's a mounting bracket issue.

Anyway, I found some replacements and would like some protection for them as well.

I just replaced one of my fogs. I got one off ebay and the guy said he didnt know if it worked.so I figured the the parts from this one and the old one I could make it work. Plugged it in and it worked. can't beat a new fog for $15 shipped. Mesh grille might work, but I can't see it looking good

I think if no one has any better suggestion, I'm going to just get some lamin-x in clear 40mil, and cut to fit. One sheet should be good for both. I might even look into getting some for the headlights, too.

Can someone shed some light on how to remove the factory lights? I've got a busted drivers side lens and I've looked looked at the mounting brackets and for the life of me, I can't figure out which screws to remove to drop the housing out I've got to be missing something simple...

It should be just an 8mm bolt holding it up. You have to remove the harness, too, before removing.

I suppose I would be interested in what people are using these days as far as aftermarket fog lights. I know there used to be a kit around for $150 or so but I cannot find that one with my existing saved links. $300-$400 just seems to much for some stinkin fog lights.

In a similar situation myself. Busted outter lense, but light works. I am going to get a sheet of clear polycarbonate plastic and make a new lens.
Should work OK, poly is good to about 212* and I doubt those little lights get that hot.

Let me know how that works out. I'm not too up on my plastics. Where can you get that? Home Depot? Would plexiglass work? And what would you seal it with?

This is where I found them - as soon as I figure out how to remove it, I'll order a replacement (and maybe a spare).
