96' up rims on a 2nd Gen.
Anyone know if the factory 3rd gen rims will fit a 2nd gen while running the stock 2nd gen tire size? And if so do they require fender flares or other mods??...Thanks in advance

if you use them flares, you can't see as much mud flying past your window.
as for the rims and the tires, check the numbers on the the rims tires and then check your clearence

There are lots of 2nd gens with 3rd gen tires on it. There seems to be a problem getting the front center cap to fit onto the 2nd gen. Some people cut a hole in the middle of the cap and others just ditch the cap.

I second that. I had a 2nd with thrid gen rims. They will fit, just you will need to different tires.

I have 96 Taco wheels on my 92 Runner. They fit fine except for the front center caps. The nuts that hold the compression washers in stick out a little further, but I took a Dremel to them and carved out a little bit around where each one contacted the cap and they fit fine now. The caps are open in the middle, so now there is still a hole where the hub sticks out, but it does look a little cleaner. Now I have to find something to affix to the caps to cover that...but everything else fits fine. Looks GREAT, too.

I run 15x7 3rd gen alloy tri-stars on my 2nd gen. I used a hole saw on the front caps so the greese caps could stick through, I painted the greese cap flat black and it looks good. Here are some pics,

Will wheel spacers take care of the problem of front center caps not fitting? I'm not too familiar with what wheel spacers do but if one could put something inbetween the wheel and where it bolts on then the bearing caps would not stick out...would that be the effect of wheel spacers?
