Have a 96, 4 Runner, V6, Auto, w/about 100,000 miles that just threw a rod through the engine block. Would like to find a rebuilt, used engine to fix it for my kid. Live in Marietta, GA. Not sure how it happened, vehicle has not been abused, driven only on the street, and not hard. Might also be interest in selling it as is, but would really prefer to fix it. Anyone know who I can contact about getting a replacement engine.

 

There are tons of sites on the net that sell used and rebuilt engines. Just do a search on Toyota used and rebuilt engines like so:

The 3.4 is a popular swap motor so there are often ones available for sale/trade on sites like this. Check out the classifieds here and other places and see if anybody has one for sale. I think anything from '96 to at least 2000 are a straight swap. Not sure on later year engines.

 

Did you purchase the vehicle new? If so, have you had the vehicle serviced at the same dealer on schedule?
