what can i do to cut down the otherwise enormous bill i will be looking at thte dealership? i was planning on changing the plugs, air filter, oil, diff fluid... what else gets covered at this interval?

go to the 'maintenance' section and look at the first post (stickied). there is a 'maintenance engine' that you can plug your vehicle's year, model and mileage into. it will tell you exactly what you need to get done.

I would change all the belts including the timing belt and also do a transmission and coolant flush. the timing belt should have been changed b/w 70-80K miles and if it hasn't change it for sure. It's not hard to change the timing belt...just time consuming.

If you need the directions, email me at jataga@att.net and I will take pictures of the pages in my service manual of how to change the belts. I have a 99 4Runner so you might want to double check the diagrams!
