Hello All - I'm a newbie to this forum. I've owned a 91 toyota pickup for the past 8 years and am now looking into upgrading the suspension.

Questions:

I am looking into the Downey Suspension. Where is the best place to purchase? How hard is it to do? Any pros and cons out there?

What should I upgrade when I am doing the suspension? Torsion Bars? Leaf Springs? Shocks? All of above? What else?

Any advice would be helpful. Thanks

4 banger (love the 22r, 190,000 miles)

Looking for upgrades that are street legal but will improve performance and suspension.

Start with I/H/E (Intake, header, exhaust) and then go from there.

If you plan on doing some pre-running, then I would avoid K&N filters.

You should be able to free up some HP by having an exhaust shop make an exhaust for you.

Oh yeah, welcome to the forums. Be sure to use the search function when you can. That will help a lot. There is a ton of knowledable people here.

There a couple guys on here with pretty solid data (oil analysis, etc) that point toward K&N filters letting in way too much dirt. The filter of choice seems to be Amsoil or stock. I am not sure if they make one for your truck, but they should.

If I were you, I would get an Amsoil and mod the stock set-up to let in cold air (if you can).

I realize we have two completely different engines, but if you click on some of my mods in my sig, you will see some different ideas. Basically, the idea is to draw in colder air, in a streamlined fashion, while not exceeding the stock fuel capability. On your motor, adding more air involves tweeking the MAFS if I remember right. If you dont know what I am talking about, stick around, there are some guys on here that know the 22R pretty well.
