'89 PU speedo question

I have the 3 guage cluster and it has started to howl and screech. I want to replace the whole cluster with the cluster that has the tach in it. So, my question is, what kind of cables and hook-ups do I need? Does the tach run through a sending unit or is it a staight-up cable like the speedo? Will this even work?
Thanks in advance.

The tach runs off an electrical signal from the ignition, it is not cable driven. The only difference with the SR5 (tach) cluster is the analog oil pressure gauge, be sure to get the analog oil pressure sender from the donor vehicle (along with the cluster) and swap it for the on/off idiot light sender before installing the cluster. If you hook the oil pressure gauge to the idiot light sender, the oil pressure gauge will fry. Also, get a tach from the same type of engine (4- or 6-cyl) and also one with a mechanical speedo like you have. Somewhere in the early '90s, Toyota swapped to an electronic speedo and sender, you likely have the mechanical speedo. Easy way to tell, look at the back of the t-case where the speedo cable attaches to. If it is a big stiff cable, it is mechanical, if it is a small module with some wires coming off of it, it is electronic.
