89 4runner ?'s
Hi all,
Just got my first 4runner. Its a base model no options what so ever. Stero's been stripped out of it and all the speakers/wires. Mostlikely Ill need a new harness and have to rewire the all of it. Motor has a small oil leak coming from the oil sump but I think its fixible with a new head gasket and some new seals. Otherwise strong motor!! Its got 11 5k on it! Also has the wing vent windows.
I picked it up off of Craigslist for $900. I think it was a steal!!
It needs left front fender and some body work on the left rear quarter. No Rust just a few surface spots from scratches.
Anyways I was able to pick up some SR5 doors with power windows that I wanna swap out into my doors. ? is are they all pre wired for PW/locks? And how hard is it to swap out the wing vents to full glass windows?
Parts I need if anyone has to spare
LF fender prefered a white one
trailer hitch
pass side window control unit.

Well, you definetly got a steal!!! Holy cow....I know a guy up here who got 4000 for a rust bucket 85 with a blown head gasket and all it had was a 5 inch lift with 31's....you got a steal...
If you're planning on doing the head gasket yourself, then that will be cheap, but its going to be really pricey if you have it done somewhere...
No, window is not prewired, you're going to have to do that yourself...at least mine isn't (87) I have a feeling you would be very hard pressed to swap the windows...In mine there are specific tabs to mount the window track, and there aren't any farther forward, if you were to take out the fly window...

Cool thanks Ill just disassemble the donor doors and see if I can salavage anything from it.
If no one has a fender I might just go with the Glasswork Fiberglass Fenders

i also have an '89 base model. i don't think i've ever seen any wires for swapping on the SR5 doors.
if you go with the glass fenders, let us know how it all turns out. i'm thinking about getting some glass rear quarters to replace the rusted out ones i have now.

I am in the middle of making mine an SR5 as well... I got the whole wiring harness from a rollover and so far things are going pretty well. Also making it a 5 Spd and getting rid of the slush box while I am at it... The wiring aspect is definetly time consuming... Congrats on a great deal and am looking forward to seeing your progress!

I turned it over last night for the first time... Started right up with no problems at all! (Let me tell you that is a good feeling!) As soon as I get a driveline I will get her on the road for a test drive... I have lots of work to do with the dash, securing wires, putting vents all back in place, that kind of thing... I'll post some picks sometime soon!

Good buy! I did an SR5 swap comlete minus the power windows. The power windows are not pre wired however most of everything else is. The power mirrors are as well as the "plug and play" for the SR5 cluster, everything else just matched up fine (seats, side panels, console etc...) Also I have a spare pass. side fender case the other side is a bit roughed...
Dan
p.s. I have been looking for some Tacoma Rims just like that let me know if you ever want to get rid of 'em
Thanks
