84 pickup 22re battery light and brake light on
#1
ive had a 84 toy pickup with 22re for a year now and the batt and brake lights stay on always with engine running.I was told to change the voltage regulator and if a diode in the regulator it would cause the lights to come on.Wasnt the regulator! The alternator puts out 14.2vdc when running. The electrical system works great in the truck even with a large amp installed the headlights lightly dim with bass but that will happen with most vehicles witha true 160watt amplifier.I dont know were to look except the guage cluster or maybe the actual guages. Please help!

oops
i meant to say that if a diode was bad in the regulator it would cause the lights to stay on.I also checked the fluid in the brake cylinder, bled lines and checked the switch in the fluid reservoir

Your alternator's brushes are probably shot. Also check the cable that runs from the alternator to the battery to make sure it's tight. The brake light comes on because of how Toyota wired the lights, when low on brake fluid just the one light comes on. What you have is a charging problem.
