Mods that didn't quite cut it!
OK Gang...
I always see great pics and posts of your successful mods but how about telling of some that went not so well.
I have had a few not so good ones,
I decided to mount my Hella Optilux light on the lower air dam so they would cast a better light, unfortunitely the air vents they had cut into them from the factory filled with water and road grit and they corroded badly.
I am still trying to make my third eye brake light work as planned after making a bracket and cutting a panel in the cargo area.
There are others that I am still working on but they may work if I ever get enough time.

Carelessness regarding the removal and reinstallation of my air box, probably when I was removing the elbow and adding the Amsoil filter. I didn't actually notice until maybe much later on that it was splitting...
Air box cracked:
Patched using crazy glue and duct tape because I'm not going to shell out $505 Cnd ($330 USD) for a new one:

Arghh....who knows, It might even have been cracked since I bought it.

I think maybe my only bad mod is not that bad. I mounted my fire scanner right under my cd player. It looks really cool and works great, but the bass frequencies that the cd player sends out interfers with the scanner. If I could do that again, I would relocate it so that it does not get interferred with! Other than that, I am totally happy w/ my rig! :fireman:

I'm kinda iffy on the K+N air filter. It breathes better but it also breathes dust in better. Im thinking of keeping the K+N for highway and in town driving and swapping in a Genuine Toyota filter for trail runs and anytime dusty conditions are anticipated.

Oh yeah, here's another. THE CRAPPY HANDHELD CB!! On Saturdays run I could not hear the trail leader when I was in the back of the line unless I had visual contact with him. This means that I only heared him above timberline on curves where there were no hills in between us. I basicly missed 1/2 on the banter and one liners on the radio. I'm getting a real system before the big CO shindig next month, the bills can wait right!!

Thats bout it, but I have changed my mind about a million times on mods I wanted to do etc, I'm sure theres more than 5 people here who can tell you about that tho

Oh I'd say the most sketchy mod for me was putting fog lights on top of the LoadWarrior rack. When turned on they flooded the cab with light via the moon roof, and so that inspired trying to fab a blocking cover for it. But the main problem is that during a snow storm (which is why I got fogs in the first place) the high mounted lights actually detracted from my visibility because snow flakes reflected light like crazy directly in front of the windshield! I felt like a goof for thinking my lights needed to be so prominent in the first place and having them high proved to be a total and utter failure. So I now have a prerunner bar and all my lights down low. During a storm I turn the headlights off and the whole road is bathed in amber and I can see everything just fine.

Matt, that is why Jim got the CB put in last week.
When on our Greenwater trip, his handheld did not get out very far.
He could hear us, but it was very hard to hear him.
My worst mod? The Shelf It!
http://www.shelfit.com/shelfit.asp
The thing hung down to low, and when I swung the sun visors down, they were almost in my lap.
And to top that off, I scratched the plastic up by the headliner.
I ran it one day, then took it out.
Piece of junk in my book.
