60K tune-up: what to do, and what to use?

I am planning to do some tune-up items on my 2000 4runner LTD as I am a bit past the 60K miles mark. I am going to do the following:

- oil (mobil1 synthetic)
- coolant (oem)
- tranny fluid (redline)
- transfer case fluid (same as tranny?)
- differential fluid (redline)
- spark plugs (?)
- check & bleed the brakes (really I just want to try out my new MityVac 6830)

Anything I am missing/forgetting?

Also, could you guys reply if you know of better productsto use for these purposes? I have never changed the tranny/diff fluids before, and am basically assuming redline is the best to use for that (I've used redline in all cars I've owned), but I am not sure if it's the best for the 4x4.

TIA!

That looks like everything. If you're doing it yourself, make sure that you lube all the necessary places (found in a good service manual). Also, you may want to replace all your drive belts (alt,ac,ps) while you're in there...I did at 60K just for the hell of it.

On the fluids: I personally use the Amsoil products all around. I know that the Redline products are good too, but it's a personal thing. I also saw a small increase in gas mileage with the Amsoil diff fluid installed.

Also, remember that when you drain the fluid from your tranny that you won't be getting all of the old fluid out. There will be apx 3 quarts of old stuff left in the torque converter, cooling lines, etc... The only way that I know to get it all out is to have it professionally flushed. I did that at Grease Monkey (they have some machine that pumps the old out while pumping in the new). There is probably some way to do it yourself, but I didn't want to have the mess.

Good luck

I usually follow this as a pretty good guide for what to do each time (it's 5 pages long):

Thanks for the responses all. I got the transmission fluid fully flushed with Amsoil this morning. -$249 Later tonight I am doing the transfer case and the diffs.

The crushed gaskets are basically washers that collapse when the drain/plug bolts are tightened. I got all of them for under $10 I believe. Well worth it, considering how much the gear oil and ATF cost.

I called them, and it does not include the oil (16qt needed for a complete flush). I only called a couple of other places, all with the same prices. I definitely started looking too late, but I am going to drive about 900 miles in 2 weeks starting this Sunday, and have to get all this stuff into shape before the trip. Sucks, I know.

dynamo,

SEARCH!

in the maintenance section (where you should really be looking in the first place) is a stickied link up top w/ a "search maintenance engine" that nails down your question with each and every service item that the dealership does on your year vehicle, mileage, etc.
