5VZ-FE Piston Rings

Hi all,

I am in the process of rebuilding problematic components of my 5VZ-FE. A couple of my piston rings are shot so I'll be ordering new ones very soon. The factory service manual mentions that each piston is marked with a number (1-3) indicating piston diameter. The markings are both on the pistons and engine block. My particular motor has five of the cylinders marked "2" and one cylinder marked "1". The FSM states the following diameters:

Mark "1" = 93.500 - 93.510 mm
Mark "2" = 93.510 - 93.520 mm
Mark "3" = 93.520 - 93.530 mm

However all 5VZ-FE standard size piston rings that I've found online are 93.50 mm. Will using this size ring on my mark "2" pistons be problematic? If so does anyone have input as to where to buy this size of rings? I am equally curious why my cylinder block was made with two different size pistons. Any feedback would be appreciated. Thank you.

At the factory, new engines are selectively fitted with pistons and rings that most precisely correspond to the individual block bores, in order to give the highest likelyhood of exceptionally long service life.

No such selective fit rings are available in the aftermarket. I don't think that they have ever been available as factory spare parts either.

The standard rings offered will be fine.

It also comes down to just what the cylinder bores measure .

Are they still round??

The failed rings caused no damage ??
