5th Gen rims on 3rd Gen
I'm getting my lift on this weekend. I stumbled across a Craigslist ad with a guy selling a set of 17" rims off a 5th generation 4runner.
Anyone seen a third gen with 5th gen rims? Would these even fit?
I'm going to get new tires in the near future and I could get these for probably $300. I think they look pretty slick, I'd just like to hear what YT has to say about it first.

I know, they look really clean. I like em alot. My wallet is burning after the lift and some other costs, but I want em! One of my buddies got a job with Michelin about 3 months ago and can get me 30% off any Michelin or BF Goodrich tires. I don't think I'll be able to resist on a set this cheap.
So these would fit without problems?
Should I just try to find a crap 17 x 8 rim for a full-size spare?
I like having a full-size spare, so I guess that's what I'd need to do... Just like to get the peace of mind of having the Okay from the YT pros.

The 6X5.5 should fit your 4Runner just fine. It's the backspacing I'd be scurred of. Ask the seller to measure backspacing for you. Stock backspacing on your 4Runner is 4.625 or right about there. The BS on those rims could be 4.5-5"..
Though, if your putting a 11-12.5" wide tire you want 4-4.25" BS to clear the UCA's.

At this price, I'll probably just get them and figure out if they will really fit later. The guy is trying to sell them fast. I figure the worst case is I'd relist and sell them to someone else. I highly doubt I'd lose money at $250-300 for the set.

Good looking wheel but if you do go wheeling a 16" wheel is better.
The taller the wheel the shorter the sidewall. The shorter the sidewall the easier it is to pop a bead at lower air pressure so you will have to run a higher psi when wheeling. The shorter the sidewall the stiffer the ride with full pressure or aired down. The shorter the sidewall the less the tire will conform to rocks when wheeling.

And...
From trying to put '08 Tacoma wheels on my 06 Tundra... About 1" deeper backspacing than the stock 17" wheels.

Although I wheel pretty damn hard on a 17 inch aluminum wheel, I would have to agree...if you're a real wheeler, go with a 15" steel wheel, but a 16 or 17 inch alloy is good for a mall crawler who sees trails on the weekend...
but like I said, I wheel the balls out of my truck on the 17's and haven't lost a bead

IIRC, the front suspension is virtually identical. But... I think you are correct. Doing some more digging, it looks like the factory 2010 SR5 wheels are 17x7.5 w/ 4.5" backspacing.

Did you ever get these wheels? How about a pic? BTW, those wheels are 17x7.5 with 15mm offset. This equals a 4.84" backspacing, approximately. This is the same size wheel as the 17" Sequoia / Tundra split 5-spoke. Many here have put the Sequoia wheels on their 3rd gens with no problems, even stock. Just choose your tire size carefully so that you won't have any rubbing issues.
Also, the stock 3rd gen alloy wheel is 16x7 with 15mm offset. Scuba already posted the backspacing, ~4.6".
The real question is, does anyone have a pic of the 5th gen 20" Limited wheel on a 3rd gen?

There's a guy over on T4R.org with these wheels:
