Here's a pic of the code.
According to a chart I have,

The 'A' at the beginning means a 7.5" front diff
The '03' means 4.10 gears (this was originally mis-typed as '30' )
The 'A' at the end means a 2-pinion open diff.

His door jam shows "A03A". Not 30

I have a A04A, and it sure seems like it is saying 3.56 gears, so I am missing something , obviously.

?

Thanks !

You're not reading the chart right. '04' code means 4.56 gears. On that chart, the ratio is to THE RIGHT of the code, not to the left.

I'm going to beg to differ here... The way the chart is drawn, it looks to me that the ratio is to the left of the code. So to me, I'm seeing '04' as 3.56. Please, if I'm wrong, explain.

Is there a better chart out there somewhere? There seems to be some controversy with this one...

Looking at that chart that jaybird302 posted, it is NOT for Tacomas, its for Toyota pickup (Hilux). Thats why we are mis-reading it. The code structure changed completely for Tacoma in 95.
