4th Gen. CLANK!

Every so often, when I mak a sharp "U" turn or a really tight turn, where the body kinds rolls into the oppisite side of the turn I hear a clank. It sounds like it is coming from the A-arm/front suspension assembly. I almost sure of this. I took it into the dealership, and the couldn't reproduce the noise, but they said that they inspected my front suspension and that everything checked out O.K. It's done it twice since then.

Has anyone else ever heard a clank/pop in the front suspension when making a hard or sharp turn in their 2003 or 2004?

Is this normal, and I am just exceeding the limitations of my steering components?

TIA guys!

Yosmany have you lifted the truck?

So far I haven't had anything like that on my 03.

I did have it "clank" on my 02 after lifting though!

Do the 4th Gen's have steering stops? If so, maybe you are just rubbing those.

I have a stock '03, and have had that happen twice. It happened both times while making a sharp left turn into a driveway. I've looked, and can't see anything rubbing or hitting, but it is hard to duplicate suspension compression while sitting still. My friend who also has a stock '03 (V8) has also had it happen to him several times. His dealer checked and didn't find anything. I will be looking closer when spring arrives.

It sound like you have exactly what I have. My biggest concern is that I don't want anything to happen after my warranty has expired. But if it is normal then maybe I should just ignore it for right now.

If it's the steering stops, just put some grease on them. If they are front and back, be sure to put it on both.

I'm not really sure, because it's not a squeak and it only happens on sharp turns. Is there a TSB on this bulliten?

I have a clunk, happened once. It is not a squeek. A squeek is associated with the shocks as you drive over a speed bump. This noise was caused by the wheels being turned sharply with minor front end dive. I was turning hard left into my driveway at about 10mph.

That's it, that's the one. Do you know cause and prevention?

Question Same problem, on a 93

I have the steering stops on my 93 p/u, and I have greased them, but they keep doing it. Has anyone ever gotten the noise to stop, short of cutting them off? Also, would rubber around the bolts and steel plates stop it from sounding like the wheels are coming off? TIA

I've had it happen once or twice. No big deal IMHO and I have like 21k miles on my truck.

Could it be a rear stabilizer bar bushing? Have heard this before.
