I am going to be getting sonoran steel #1.1 lift for my 4runner in a couple of weeks. My question is would it be better to have 4.03" backspacing or 4.5" backspacing on the rims. I can get them both, I just want to know what would fit better with running 285 tires. I don't care about having to trim and i can't find a definitive answer when searching about pros and cons to each. If you guys have pictures of how far they stick out that would help to.

It's always best to call us on the phone with questions on our products. A 3.5" BS rim would be idea, The 4.0 would be the next choice and the 4.5" would be the least desirable.

If you like the Mickey Thompson Classic II they make the best rim to minimize rubbing. This is the rim everyone in Arizona runs with the 315/75/16.

they run those w/what height lift?

 

Our System 1 and 7. To fit the 315's they run 1.5" Body Lifts as well. No body lift needed for 285's on the correct wheels.

 

my 4.5 inch backspace 16x8 wheels clear with enough room for insurance. they stick out a little bit but im fine with that, actually like it a bit more except when rocks get thrown up on my doors.

 

go with 4 or 4.5ers if youre staying with the 11.5's. if you plan to go 12.5" or 35's...definitely get 3" or preferrably 3.5". im on 4.5" BS with 1.5" spacers (effectively a 3"BS wheel)..and still have a good inch or so clearance on 35X12.5X16" MT/R's...

 

You really don't want wheel spacers. A lot of tire places will not work on your vehicle if you have them.
