I have done several searches but nothing has come up that resembled this problem. I have a 2000 4Runner with a SC on it. It has 54K miles on it. When I am cruising at 1500-1900 rpm (45-60) and let off the gas a little the Yota jumps a little and drops some RPMs. When on the gas, never a problem just letting off the gas at 45-60 mph's. Does this sound familiar to anyone? Any ideas? Thanks for the help.

It drops about 400-500 rpm and then feels like it catches and back to normal. It also does it when pressing the gas barely while coasting. It is hard to explain over a computer. Also, it didn't do this when I first bought it. It just seems weird that this would be normal.

If I remember right, when you are coasting/ cruising at higher speeds, the inertia of the tires and transmission is enough to keep the car going. So the transmission unlocks from the flywheel so that it is less strain on the motor. When you go back to accelerate the flywheel and transmission have to match speeds, so thats probably where the jolt/drop in RPM comes from.

I think hes meaning to say torque converter, but it does sound like it. I don't know what would be making it lock and unlock so abruptly though. Possibly someone else w/ the sc can tell you if that is normal. You might want to look into getting a trans cooler if the converter is spending a lot of time unlocked as this creates butt-loads of heat.

AFRunner- It has a transmission cooler. The only way to not feel the light "jump" is never let off the gas.
When the ECT is on, you can't feel the "jump" as much. The 60K mile check-up is coming up and I will have all the fluid flushed but with all the stealership BS, I hope they do it correctly.
