4cyl vs 6cyl transmission ? read please!!!

I need a quick answer. Is the auto tranny behind a 1st or 2nd gen 4runner/truck 4cyl the same as the one behind the v6, but with different bell housings?
I'm trying to see if I can use the auto transmission from a v6 and get a 4cyl bellhousing to make it go on a 22re. Or is there an adapter thanx.

i just did some looking around and found some Toyota auto's with and without removable bellhousings, if the input splines and torque converter are the same, and all of the wiring will hook up, i dont see why it wouldn't work

The a340h has a removable bellhousing and I think a guy on here told me his 86 auto aid it was an a340h on the firewall.

Here is some more info: http://www.off-road.com/toyota/tech/other/4_dts.html

It looks like to me there will be a problem with it as the A340H has the integraded hydraulic transfer case (unless you want to use it as well).
