4 runner info?? Do you have any good pages, or info offhand i can use??
Thanx for readin! ok...
Soon, probably within the next year and a half, I'll most likely, definatly, really want to...get a 4 runner. As of now, i'm not sure what year i want, but i'm detirmined to learn more and figure that out. Normally i'd ask on here or somewhere, but i don't want to make you guys do all the work it makes me feel selfish, so can someone point me to a site and/or pages online that can help me with the changes, advantages, flaws, and basic info of 4runners between the years of 1985 and 1989?
I am looking for info on the ups and downs of SFS and IFS, upgrades and little nice things changed as the years went on, flaws that were fixed, and i dunno...what's preferred. I would like to get the newest, an 89, but i'm not sure if i should get an 85 for the solid axle, or if the 89 really is the best of the IFS trucks ( i assumed it would be, as it's the newest).
I narrowed it down to these years because i want the removable top, and EFI (i think that's better that a normal carborator?). I'll probably get an IFS truck though seeing it will be my first vehicle, and i'd like the more comfortable (and possibly safer?) ride.
OK, thank you for any help you give!! We should be going on a trip somewhere this summer and i thought i'd better get educated incase we come across the perfect one!! My dad says if we find a gem that's a good price, he'd definatly consider buying it, and the better i know the vehicles, the better.
OH YEAH!! i need info on the faulty head gaskets... i'm sketchy on those years and engines. And do all toyota engines last to like...300k miles and up or is that just the 22RE and not the 6 cyl??
urrgh, sorry for allthe questions......

go to autos.msn.com and you can look up the specks of used vehicles to find out all the feathres, origonal purchase prices, reacalls, problems, and everything else for each year of 4runner. I found that the 3rd gen 4runners were rated as much more relyable than the 2nds but I still love the body style and look of the 2nd gen 4runners.

well sorry for not posting earlier, but those links did and are helping a lot... all the info i've gotten off this board has helped me and i'm so thankful...
I've just started driving, i have my permit now and i drove my first toyota...it looked like a 3rd gen, it was an extra cab pickup with the 4 cylinder and an auto...nice to drive, but then again, it would get boring and i still hope i get a 5 speed...
Right now my dad and I are looking at a 1990 SR5 runner, and i'd like anybody's opinions on it, i posted another thread... but i decided that the 2nd gen's are nice too and i also decided i don't have to have the removable top...it will be quieter and more SUV-like with the solid body... I just hope we end up buying it...
