Pure BS. 4x4wire actually has a sticky thread on those, so people don't get duped.

That one looks legit. You might want to try the deckplate mod with a drop-in K&N, better performance and cheaper.

the only way to add hp to your 4runner is to add the TRD stickers. duh.

the resistor IAT mod is crap.. its a $0.03 resistor from radio shack... sure in therory it would work, but the computer can tell its being tampered with and will adjust to it.....

Actually, the ECU doesn't know the difference in resistance from the resistor versus the MAF. The resistor will set up a constant current flow and the ECU will just think that it's "always" cold, thus pushing more fuel, thus creating a bit more power.

The IAT mod is very similar to the ECT mod in concept. I have babble about the latter here:

You're burning more fuel so... it will decrease gas mileage.

Engine performance mods with gas prices like they are aren't really recommended.

I wasnt sure, cause on the diesel motors some of these performance chips, etc are boosting power and increasing fuel mileage. ... as long as you dont have a heavy foot.

I have "TRD Sport" stickers on my Runner and I think those have 5 more HP than the "Off Road" version. So 2 stickers = 10hp more.

At the lower stages of those performance chips they're getting more burn from the fuel that's there and changing the shift points for more torque down low. The higher stages bring up the fuel delivery...

In general, you have to burn more fuel to get more power. There are ways to burn more of the fuel you have (e.g., muti-discharge spark systems), and to burn it more efficiently (e.g., water misting) but the other side of those solutions is that you want to play with the skinny pedal more and you end up blowing through more fuel.
