3rd Gen wont start, starter maybe?

Last night I came out to my truck and saw the latest dent cause by some nice person. Well, I get in and none of the gauges work (gas, tach, etc.). I thought it might be a fuse. Then I noticed my A/C doesn't light up or work in any way, shape, or form. I back out of my spot, and the reverse lights don't work! All of the other lights work (except the A/C) just not the reverse lights. Well now my runner wont start and it makes the infamous click when trying to start it. The radio still comes on, so I know it's not the battery. If it helps my A/C has not been impressive the last few weeks. It blows but not that cold, well not anymore.

Anybody have a clue?

Thanks in advance guys!

Jim

EDIT: The dent was more than a light tap, my bumper is in some pain right now.

What year truck do you have? Have someone look at your headlights when you try starting your truck and see if they go dim

It's a 2000. I called AutoZone to see if they've heard anything like this before. The guy said on some cars there is a sensor that triggers when the car is hit, and it causes the gas line and electrical systems to shut down so there wont be a fire. Is this a possible cause? I think I'll just take it in Monday and hope for the best.

Well, I'm pretty sure that our 4runners do not have an inertia switch for the fuel pump. That said, you definately have something shorting out. I highly doubt you have a starter issue, given you have so many other circuits malfunctioning. I'd check all relays/fuses under the hood as well as under the dash. I'd also check to make sure the taillight wires are not pinched from the collision.

Check it out, and get back to us!
