3rd gen used help

hey, I have found 2 4runners that sound pretty good. They are both limited, have around 70k miles, have the the rear locker, and are in my price range (under 15k) but are automatic. I am really interested in a 5speed but I think it might be hard to find one that also has the rear locker. Does anybody know of one around the Denver area? Thanks.

I'm pretty sure you won't find a Limited w/ 5 Speed. And yes, a 5 Speed w/ E-Locker is about as rare a find as a needle in a haystack.

Good luck.

You are in the right state to score a 5-speed with locker. I found that Utah had some too. You just gotta hang in there and you will eventually get what you want. Don't settle for an auto if you want a 5-speed. I did that very thing, and totally lost interest in my Tacoma LTD and sold it for my 4Runner.

If you really want a manual, keep looking.

Hey, I went and looked at a 2 other 4runners today. One was manual v6 with no diff lock, and one was an auto limited with a diff lock. I definitly like the 5sp better because it feels much quicker on the road. I guess I will keep looking, and would greatly appriteate it if some of you Denver folk would keep an eye out with me. Thanks!

After looking on ebay and autotrader I think this might be too rare of a combination (5sp V6 rear locker) to find. Hmmmmmmmmm????

Just know that if you can find a 5speed w/o a locker for $600 cheaper, you can throw in an e-locker. eBay has had quite a few manuals in the last month...keep looking for the best price. Also, April 15th is almost here - prices historically go down after then.

NOTE: The $600 is based upon a recent post on "best manual locker"

Great point! I know you have to retrofit an elocker in which I probably couldn't do myself, but how hard is it to install an ARB locker? If it doesnt require any welding or very many special tools, I could possibly do it myself and save $$$$$

Here is one that the guy says has a rear diff lock and is 5sp, but you can never trust them. The other day some guy said his had a locker, so I drove there and it didnt. Before I drive all the way there, can anyone see from this picture if it has the rear diff lock? Thanks

its hard to tell from the pic due to how small it is..but there should be a little button on the left hand side of the steering wheel labeled "RR DIFF LOCK"
