b/c I knew I'd always have a cargo liner mounted in there to cover things up. There was no need to worry how the cargo bolts looked w/ the liner in place.

The wheel well bolts are reversed for clearance. Didn't want to possibly puncture a tire on full stuff.

Look at the dates of each previous post. The last post before farina posted was Sept '03! Anotherwords, he revived a thread almost 4.5 yrs old...and to top it off, asked a question about a civic??

This place is turning into a god damned ricer forum......the only reason I come here anymore is to sell parts and even then its almost unbearable...good tech is becoming harder and harder to find here...

its really starting to piss me off....surely I'm not the only one

The roll bar back there is to offer some protection to the rear passengers in case of a rollover when the top is off.

If you roll hard enough to crush the top of a 3rd gen, that roll bar probably would be crushed too, since its only connected to the body, not the frame like real functional rollbars are.

if yotatech is a ricer forum, then call me Uncle Ben! i love yotatech, best place to be on the net IMO. as for the roll bar, i just picked one up a few days ago and i'm in the process of hacking it and rebuilding it for my 3rd gen. i've been reading up on this with Rock Slide's install by Wabbit and seems pretty cool to me. i'm not going to put this in thinking i can roll my truck 12 times or have a 150 year old oak fall on it and not be hurt/injured/killed, i want it to mount stuff to and tie down other stuff in my cargo area. just like a scooped hood from toyota isn't going to give you extra cooling or HP, that's just looks, but at least the roll bar is somewhat functional for attaching points for other things so they don't roll around.

True, but 1st gen 4Runner roll bars were not connected to the frame either .

I agree though, a properly installed roll bar/cage should be tied into the frame.
