3rd Gen: How Difficult Is To Remove The Rear Bumper?

I had a little accident about 2 days ago and now have to remove the rear bumper and replace it with a new one. Has anyone removed the rear bumper off of a 3rd gen? Any inputs would be greatly appreciated.

Nothing to it...hardest bolts to find are the ones under the plastic piece on the top that you gotta pull off. Have the hatch open. The rest of the bolts you can just look for and common sense will tell you which ones to take off...

I think when I took mine off I looked at a Haynes/Chilton manual just to get an idea of where all the bolts were, but it ain't hard.

Piece of cake, just took mine off to put on my new Sonoran Steel rear bumper. As Brian mentioned, there are a couple that are impossible to get to without pulling off the plastic "step" which is held on by a few plastic clips.

Ditto. No real info needed. Once you look at it closely the solution will present itself. Maybe a little pb blaster the day before for the rusty bolts if you live in the lovely rust belt.

8 bolts and mine just drops off......... oh wait it's not stock

Actually the stock bumper is quite easy to take off, but can be a PITA to get the corner bolts removed...
