Well it isn't fiberglass more of a paper press board. I pulled all the trim and the roll bar then removed the HL did not use a pressure washer and just went with liberal applications of simple green and a hose. The 1st wave of black tide that rolled off was nasty I hand scrubbed the simple green into the bad spots and set it on a table outside to dry.

That sounds like the logical thing to do if it's in bad shape and you've taken the effort to pull it all out. Anyone had it reupholstered?

As far as I know they aren't the kind you can get re-upholstered (though I could be wrong) they just aren't the headliners are yore.

When I inherited my dirty headliner 4runner (2000), I was so appalled by the lack of respect the previous owner gave to the headliner. After careful research, I brought out my Kirby Vacuum and my horsehair round dust brash attachment. I also used a kitchen sink Dish scrubber, with semi rigid bristles. I simply rubbed the headliner with the dish brush in one hand, and the kirby horsehair in the other, and wouldnt you know it the headliner is now spotless. Giving circular strokes, doing about a 12" x 12" area at a time and 1.5 hours later you have a new reconditioned headliner. it worked perfectly. I even removed the Oh handles and cleaned around those as well. It REALLY does work, and will not make the headliner drop or sag like liquid cleaners or steam will!

No no and no, I don't think this is like any headliner I've had most I know of are soft but this thing is hard really hard. I do have to order two more plug things as I broke them during the unistall but other than that... I'm good. I got the idea from his detailer who would remove all the interior and pressure wash everything with an elec pressure washer, sounded crazy but I figured worth a shot. I skipped the PW and used simply green and a hose.
