3rd gen CB placement

I did the search thing and no real answer.... I have a 00 limited with the 2- 12v outlets in the dash under the radio so I can't put it there.... where else can a CB be put in a runner insted or the dash. I had thought about under the seat on the side of the main console and even on the back of the arm rest. Can anyone think of something better? Pics would be help full.

Thanks in advance
Chris

Been thinking about the same thing myself. Could replace the double din stereo/cd combo with a single din and cb. Or mount the cb on the headliner behind the map lights. Or just velcro it somewhere and remove it when not needed. Same problem with the trailer brake controller, except its 1/3 size of cb.

I like the indash solution best, but when I've got to buy a new stereo......

But that new Stereo would make your music sound much better. Even without new speakers, the factory stereo seriously underpowers the stock speakers.

In dash models

I personally have not done the CB yet, but I have it all planned out and I am DEFINITELY going in dash; cleaner look, convenient location, stability and security; and getting a new head unit at the same time and just install both. There really is not much to it for either. I can get all the equipment I need for under $250, which is not bad.

These are two I would suggest:

or this one:
http://www.uniden.com/product.cfm?product=PRO538W

Hope this helps!

The Uniden is too deep to put in the dash and have it be reasonably flush. I already went down this road since I wanted the PA capability of the Uniden. I ended up with the Cobra for fit.

CB placement

I have the CB already with a fire stick mounted on the back. I just can not find a good place to mount it inside. I cannot do the indash deal.... Does anyone know of any other place to put besides the dash?
Thanks in advance

Which particular CB you got? Dimensions? I think that might help with some suggestions as someone might have that particular model and can chime in and tell you/show you what they've done.

Does anyone actually have the dimensions of the Uniden Radio?

I've seen a lot of posts that it won't fit, but nothing past, it's to long.

Is it to long with the Factory Amp in there, or once the amp is removed will it fit?

It looks like a better radio than the Cobra, but I too am leaning toward the cobra because of the dash placement position.

I was going to go with the 75, but the pocket is useless, and this option therefore uses up some useless space and doesn't leave another aftermarket item floating around in the cabin.

I am doing what a lot of folks have done. Mine is going to go where the ash tray is now. If I ever get to it.

I looked in to the Uniden as well. I don't have the dimensions any longer, but I did get them from their site.

Haven't some people mounted them vertically inside the center console? Of course this would only work if you don't have the back-seat heater. Another place might be in the glove box, if you wanted to lose that space. Or maybe attach it to the passenger side of the center console vertically with the buttons facing up. You could attach it with velcro as Unhappy99 suggested so you could remove it when not using it.

Just some ideas

Good Luck

If you're concerned about losing space and have an additional $40 to blow you could try getting one of the glove box organizers

Unhappy

My vote goes to the ash hole or in the box. I dont smoke so the tray holds only noisy change and its easy to see. I like the Glove box idea because its hidden when not in use, but its a bit of a reach for the driver.

This has been rollin in my mind too as I'm now shopping for a 3rd gen
