3rd Gen. 4Runner third row seat....
I checked from Toyotaguys.com, they said that they have the third row seat for 4Runner. From the picture, it looks great. I wonder that have any of you here had that installed, how is it. Is it legal to have it installed due to safety?
Any suggestions will be great.

2002:
Is it an aftermarket 3rd bench seat or Toyota OEM? I have the parts sheet for a 99 and I saw that there is actually a Toy OEM seat. I don't know anyone who owns either, though. I imagine it would be for small children only. Oh, is it rear or forward facing? If its rear facing and you put the kiddies back there, have a ready supply of barf bags too!
As far as the legality of it, I have no clue. I'm guessing if it has seat belts its ok but best to check w/ your local motor vehicle department to make 100% sure.

This is what they said:
"This new third seat for your 4Runner maintains Toyota quality. We use materials that beautifully compliment the interior of your vehicle. The third seat is completely portable and can be positioned to face the front or back of your 4Runner (on 1996 through current only). The third seat installs easily and can be removed quickly. It meets federal safety specifications and includes two lap belts."
I really don't want to turn it into the mommy wagon though but in case we need more seats for up to 7 people (very rare though since we only have one boy)
It costs about $1000, I don't know if it's worthy or not? Which one is better: A TRD supercharger or the third row seat?
If anyone has it installed, then please let us share the picture of it.
Peace.

Hmmmmm, or you could get with Mike on the fourm here with the group buy on TJM bumpers and really spice up your front end for less than that.
$550 minus the shipping, and then add a little more and get a winch too.
I don't think there are too many '02s runnering around sportin' a custom bumper & winch combo yet.

SUPERCHARGER!!!, but doesn't a supercharger cost more than 1000?????? If it only costs that much (for everything: tax, installation, shipping, etc..) I would already have one by now...I think....

gee, you all voted for the supercharger, but that will cost more than $1000 though, it costs about $2500 before installation. This will take me a while to save enough, but I bet it will look damn good in my rig though. Just wait guys
Thanks for the replies.

I know it cost more than $1000 but if you have that much free cash you might as well go ahead and save some more and get something alot cooler than a 3rd row seat that really isn't all that effective(not to mention that it turns your baby into a mommy wagon). You have the EXACT 4Runner I want(but I'm not saying I don't love mine, yours is just my dream Runner), and if I heard that you went and turned it into a grocery getter I would have to sit and cry for a few days before I got over the shock. If you don't want to save another $1500 for the charger, then lift it. With 1000 bucks you could lift it about 3" and slap some 32's under there. You could get the lift that was suggested to me Sway-A-Way RaceRunners 2.5" CoilOver Shocks (2) $690 (Front),
I just can't affored at the time. It would be sooooooo sweet. Ah well just keep us informed.

All right, No third row seat and No momy wagon. However, I'm not a big fan of "OFF ROAD" since there is no mountain here but I love power and sound system so i'll save enough for the supercharger and maybe upgrade my stereo system.
Later.

This is just a thought about the 3rd seat. Now we all know that if you were to put a seat in the back of the trunk that only kids would probably sit back there due to legroom and headroom Now I'm not too sure about the 4Runners but isn't the front and rear of the vehicle the crumple zone?

throw some 33" SSR's on that and you'll be set
