4rx has a 3" body lift on stock suspension. pm him. if youre already higher with a suspension lift..why do you want to add that much of a body lift? stick with something a bit less. its not that much more difficult than a 2" body lift. 4crawler should be able to hook you up with everything you'll need to get it setup right.

Hey 4rx...my truck is not rubbing!!!! I only want to lift it more>!! i was concerned in the Center of Gravity ..because i have a 3" suspencion lift kit on it.!!...but in the future i will like to get 35" tires and like to have a sufficient room between the wheel and the body..

I would imagine that suspension lift would be more concern in the center of gravity becuase its all weight on the frame and body. Its likely more sway. Don't quote on that cause I dont have suspension lift. any input would be great. body lift isn't much of issue with the center of gravity since stock suspension stay same ground clearance. 35's help more ground clearance. hope it helps.

I would stay away from a 3" body lift, especially in a 3rd gen. Amonng the problems you will encounter, getting the bumpers to match up and the shifter to operate correctly are big ones. You are also raising your center of gravity rather high, which means in evasive manuevers, its much more likely to roll.
Besides all that, 3" body lift leaves giant gaps between the frame and the body, and allows for a lot of body roll and body flex.

My 99 4runner now has a 3" body lift installed along with the 3" Revtek suspension lift. I love it. I was worried about the center of gravity, but it didn't effect the handling at all that I can notice. I am about to install some 1.5" alum. spacers by this weekend. I plan to replace the 33's with 35's, hopefully another set of MTR's.

I ran 35's on without wheel spacers for a short time. I had to drive slowly. And then I installed 1.5" wheel spacers, it is much better and less roll stability. It's noticable difference!
cougar, to each their own, people are still doing install body lift on the vehicles. That's good for you if you are staying away from body lift. I respect that. Also it is easy homemade guards to cover the gaps.

To fit 315’s:
1.5 BL
4 - 3.5 backspaced wheels
Minor wheel well trimming
Low profile control arms
To run 315's:
Re-gear
Tranny cooler
PS cooler
Consider Tundra brakes up front
This is how to run 35's with minimal negative impact on and off-road

my 96 runner came with a 3" BL. I just left it in as I didnt want to mess with it. It did have a spacer lift so I ripped that out and installed a Sonoran Steel System 1.2 Suspension kit. It rocks. but it is ridiculously tall and even I at 6' have to literally jump into the seat. Girlfriend hates it.
If you read Steve Schaeffers site carefully you will see that he STRONGLY reccomends nothing over a 1.5" BL in combination with his system 1.2 and some mild trimming to fit 35's. He also says the only wheel that works without issue is the Mickey Thompson Classic II's. 3.5 backspace. Believe it. I have 4.5" backspace and though I dont rub the control arms I cant run spacers or the rubbing worsens.
The 3" BL isn't going to do anything for you other than make it look cool. I am seriously considering dumping mine for a 2" or even 1.5". Good luck!

okay i took some pics with my cell phone, looks like there is just a screw that hold is on, also seems like that in the haynes manual. i'm just pretty sure it will hit the console even if i extend it so was thinkin about a short shift or maybe re fab the shifter alltogether. the wires for the switch look like they unplug at a harness below the shifter boot although i am not positive on that.

May be possible to extend/angle the shifter up from below (weld in an extension on the thin section below the boot. And angle it such that the front/back throw is centered in the console opening.
A short throw kit is not hard to do, would need to see if the shifter base needs a new spacer design or if an existing one would work:

Other option is to raise the t-case and engine up:

well i don't think i want to raise the engine/tranny.
i guess my only option is to put the 2 or 3 inch bl in and go from there. i'm confident with my metal fab skills and have the equipment to re fab the shifter myself. i guess noone knows for sure if any of the existing short shift kits will work? what info do you need to check if any of the existing ones would work?
