Question 3"+ lift kit?

This may have been a previous inquiry, but does anyone know if there are any lift kits for a 2001 4Runner 4WD more than 3"? Thanks in advance either way!

No, there are no lifts available for more than 3" of lift due to the fact that the CV Joint angles are too extreme. You will need to go custom with new axle shafts, Upper and Lower Control Arms, springs and shocks and CV Joints designed for more travel if you want to go higher, or swap in a solid axle in the front (SAS). Also, getting more than that much lift in the rear will require custom springs, longer suspension links, a panhard drop bracket and massive customization to the Gas Tank and Skidplate.

Sorry to rain on your parade. But these trucks aren't designed for a huge amount of lift.

probably not. i have a 4inch lift and i have 33s on my 94. i think most people that have a 2nd gen with 35s have to have a 4inch, plus 3 inch body lift. you could probably get a 2 inch body lift, but have to pound the fenders a bit.

Do you go off-road? If not, then that is why you have no problems running 32" tires. Doink wheels his truck. I am certain if you took your truck off road that your 32" tires would rub in the wheel wells. If you are not planning on going off road, then you won't need as much lift as Doink recommended to clear 35" tires. He made those recommendations based on making sure your tires would not rub under flex when wheeling.

I don't know how much lift you'll need for 35" tires for a pavement dwelling truck. I don't have a better answer than that. But, I hope what I said made sense anyway.

Contrary to popular belief, suspension lifts do not give much additional tire clearance, unless you lower the bump stops. A body lift will increase tire clearance. When you do a suspension lift, the tires will still stuf up just as far, unless you lower bumpstops which decreases potential wheel travel.

You will need 4" of suspension lift combined with 2" of body lift to fit 35's. You will also need to use 4" lowered bumpstops otherwise you WILL rub and rub hard.

If you have front mud flaps, you'll tear them off as well.
