3 disc changer

whats the deal with toyota in-dash cd players not being able to read burned cd's too well? Is there a particular brand cd that works better, or should i just replace the whole thing?

I most recently used philips brand cd-R discs. (I've also used Fuji and Sony blue or green discs)They work fine for me! I think if you get good quality (black is supposedly the best), and burn at a lower speed your chances of it working will improve.

However, on that note, I would replace it with an MP3 CD player. (or even an HDD MP3 player!)

If you burn a CD at high-speed (above 10x) the pits burned in the CD become shallower, easy enough for a computer to read but older CD players may not be sensitive enough to find the pits 100% accurately...

Try burning at 4x or less and see what happens.

Of course, buying a new player would fix such problems.

Try making sure you're using a CD-R and not a CD-RW or CD+RW. That might do it. I remember my stock deck played CD-R's...

The stock 3 disc changer is made by Alpine. I have the Alpine unit, which has the same exact insides as yours. Mine has been fine with burnt cd's, but then again, my burner is 4x. I just got a new pc (haven't set it up yet) that has 16x, maybe this is the reason mine works?
