So I have heard many mixed reviews on headers...but I got them anyway for my 2000 4Runner. I'm just looking for any advice on the installation process or if anyone knows tips/tricks for an easier (fingers crossed) install. I have a 3" Revtek lift, no body lift. Any info would be appreciated, thanks.

 

Good luck with self-install. I've installed about 98% of the things on my ride, but this was one I didn't want to try. I had a good Toyota repair shop install mine and it still took them over a day for the tear out and install...

 

I considered both headers and an exhaust for my '02 4Runner. After hearing many opinions and facts, I've decided that I will probably not be doing either on my rig. Although I may run a TRD exhaust when the stocker rusts or gives out.

Basically, I've seen proof that a header and exhaust mod will give you minimal HP gain for your money. I've also seen that it is best to run an aftermarket header with an aftermarket exhaust.

I don't really see a problem using an aftermarket header on your 4Runner but I'm not sure if it is really worth the money you spent.

 

To be totally honest... I have the TRD cat-back and headers and didn't notice too much differance. I had the cat-back before the headers and once the headers were installed, the only thing noticably different, was the exhaust was actually "quiter". For the cost and hassle of headers, I probably wouldn't do it again.

 

Well, eventually a s/c will be finding its way into the hood, so I figured it will all be worth it in the long run. So I'll suffer through the install...
