3.4 questions...

I have a 3.0 with a manual trans.
I have been reading up on the 3.4 swap.
I have a couple of questions that I haven't been able to find any answers on.
=> 95.5-99 blocks all the same, with the correct Oil Dip Stick Tube

Now here is a question I haven't been able to find an answer on.
Is there a difference between the 99.5-99 cranks? Auto and Manuals.

2nd question: Downey Headers, can you use the Downey cross-over? I have only seen one pic of the cross-over and the guy had it coming across the back of his t-case.

I have been reading alot... I am going to find a 3.4. Order the ORS Basic swap kit for a Manual trans, Order Downey Headers...

My crossover with the headers is behind my crawler so there is more room when the front driveshaft needs to travel.

If you are going this far custom, why not go a little farther?

IIRC, the ORS pages specifically states crank machining differences.

they say that some 3.4's put into automatics did not have enough of a pilot hole for the input shaft of the trans. personally, I have searched for 3.4's quite a bit before buying one and I did not see any that didn't have the proper hole on the crank. this was from both autos and manuals.
I finally settled on a 95 T100 engine with very low miles. this way I do not have to move the dipstick or change the oil pan or pick up. seems to be a bolt in. I think that the runner and tacomas need to have the dipstick moved and the pan/pick up changed.
the guys at ors are more than helpful when you give them a call. Mike is the guys name I believe. Let us know how the basic kits look. I will be needing the stuff soon.

Flygtenstein - it said select year with autos have polit bearing drilled out. Do you have a right up on your install? a picture of your exuast?

I know alot of people say they have done the 3.4 swap but they don't tell anyone how they did it.

I sure didn't do mine. ORS did and yes the guys name is Mike, he is the owner.

I could take some pics, but it is all custom after the headers.

Mine came out of a 2000 4Runner with an auto, so I kept the stock 200 auto behind it and added a couple t-cases.

If you call ORS, buy their stuff. The shop is not a free tech line, it is a Toy shop.

I got a 97, oil dipstic was not in the right place. Had to drill for oil, so to speak.
Also, the crossover will not work as you need your exhaust to exit on the opposite side from the 96 and up models.
If you have more questions, feel free to PM or email me, or ask me on this thread, I suppose. There's a ton of info available on here and 4x4wire. I can send you pics if you need. Can't post pics cuz I havent ever set up a site with linkable pics.
