2nd Gen Bumper Big Enough?

Want to mount some Hella 500s on the front bumper, but as i look at the width there, it does not seem wide enough to accomodate. Normally I would just buy then be able to see first hand and then just make it work... ...but i thought I would ask this time. And i have seen som eother 93s and 95s with them, but it seems that their bumpers are wider. So does anyone know if a 1990 front bumper is wide enough, or rather deep enough, for Hella 500s?

Yep, as Cody said, they will fit fine.
I ran them like that on my '91 until I got my ARB.

You will want to make sure you have an extra long socket extension to reach from under the bumper to reach up and tighten the nuts on the bottom of the bolt.

I also used some rubber biscuits to go under the metal washer where it contacts the top of the bumper.
This will prevent rust and keep the washer from rubbing more around the hole you drill.

Pick up some clear covers too, and you won't have to remove the white ones whenever you want to turn them on.

I run the covers on both sets and they will save your lenses from damage.

Another alternative, Ive got a 91, but it might be the same. Look behind your lower valence. Just behind it..i think its the radiator core support you could, fabricate some mounts and have your lights come out infront of your valence. I did this with mine and mounted some KC's. I think those are fairly larger than hellas.

Toyminator_-_You have any pics of that? ! ? At one point I was thinking of doing that, but keeping the lights flush with the valence and cutting a section of the ribs out, so there was nothing to block the light.

Anyone with lights behind the grill or valence...does it cast shadows or do your lights shine ok from behind?

I dont have any pics of it...but i just washed my runner yesterday. So i was planning on it soon. I will do it today. Ill be sure to post them. As far as putting them behind. I tried fitting them.. but i saw it would be hard to adjust from back there, and KC's are 5in. deep..so they wouldnt fit.

I think a guy named MacGyver (sp?) did this, but I'm not sure if he is around the board much anymore. Try doing a search for him.

Looks good man. Think I might give that a try, or a variation thereof. So do those hold up pretty well? any vibrations? other problems?

edit --- where did you get those crazy blackouts for the signals?

The mounts hold up good...I went to home depot...the only thing i could find were shelving brackets. They were in the shape of an "L" ....i found the thickest ones i could find..i straitend them out..and viola. Theyre pretty sturdy....just dont rear end someone.
Im not worried abit about them coming unalligned or needing any tweaking. They do flutter
a bit..but its nothing major. Im prolly going to find some where to put some rubber stops somewhere.

As far as the corners go...i painted them with spray paint. It was spray paint for Lexan Rc car bodies. Its more flexible than regular paint...thus no chipping! Dats about it.
