295 Nitto Terra Grapplers on a 3rd gen

**MODS please feel free to move this to 3rd gen...**

Well after going back and forth over and over, I finally ended up getting the Nitto Terra Grappler in 295/75/16

I have only put about 10 miles on them, but have been through the city and on the highway at 70.

Much quiter than my MT/Rs (duh).

They don't seem any taller, but they are wider.
This width seems to be the max width you can run on 16x8 with 4.5"bs without modifiying the upper control arms.
Here is a shot with the wheel turned ALL the way:

Very nice. Did you keep the MT/R's for 4Wheeling? Looks like you did.

They are being sold this weekend.

I can only have one set of wheels/ tires.

Man, that look so good with the cruiser wheels. I've been tempted in finding cruiser wheels for my Runner, but I can't justify spending more $$ on my rig. The stock ones suit me fine with what I do with the car. Maybe one of these days I'll swap the wheels from the Cruiser to see how it would look on the Runner.

So, you decided...did you do any additional trimming? I had to trim the fenders and flares with 4" BS.

They look nice, and these tires wear very well.

NICE!

oh, and those upper arms will most definitely rub on a full droop. mine have about that much clearance or more...

no worries. not like a little kiss from time to time will hurt them...

I have an extra set of OEM arms that will get sent to Steve.

I am not worried about a kiss or two....plus I still need to install my limiting straps and replace the cracked top out spacer

I am very happy, but they don't seem any larger than 285 MT/Rs, however i expect them to last for awhile and wear well.

I am going to try and flex them tomorrow.

i have already pounded the pinch weld and done some trimming.

I am thinking about making an inner panel to allow more clearance and elimnate the pinchweld altogether.

So far I am very happy. Quite a change though....

nicee...if you need a hand throwing that spacer in let me know. I should be ordering my BL soon too.

are you going wheeling? or mall crawling?

Id say keep the runner for a little while then get a LC, that way you will have 2 vehicles!

I really like these tires. THey are great on the road.
It is supposed to rain later, so the test continues.

Good looking too. Not that it's much of an issue, but we'll see how they are offroad.

Hopefully I will teat them this weekend....

For the sake of a proper archive...to my knowledge SteveO had these on a 3rd gen first, back in October of 2003. Props to SteveO for being 2 1/2 years ahead of the rest of us.

The pics are gone now, but you can see the date it was posted.

I bought his used in June of 2005.

Bamachem also had them a while back and his experiences with the tire is what made me get them and I love 'em so far.
