Question 22re timing belt replacement questions

I did some searching, and I found alot of v-6 info, but not much on the 22re.

My 93 Pickup is overdue for a t-belt replacement (it's been 100K+ since its last replacement) I've been shopping around to see who will do it right, and I'm getting quite a bit of conflicting info.
I've had quotes from $200 from the dealer for just the belt, 400+ for belt and water pump, and 700+ from a specialty shop who said I should do the belt, water pump, cam and crank seals, Idlers, and drive belts.

What is the recommendation here from yall with the experience? The truck has 215K miles and has been well maintained. I guess 700 just seems steep for routine maintenance, a few of those and I could have just as cheaply dropped in a new engine.

Actually, the 22RE utilizes a timing chain and it fairly easy to replace yourself.

I would recommend picking up a Haynes or Chiltons manual and reading up on it. If you have the dough, a field service manual would be best.

doh.

Hmmmmm. I learn something new every day. That would explain the lack of timing belt replacement threads for a 22re :pat: . If it does have a chain, is the 60K belt replacement out the window? I don't have any symptoms, and I can't imagine a chain would be prone to breakage like a belt would.

Chains do "stretch" but not like a belt.

Unfortunately, I do not remember what the maintenance interval is on the 22REs. I have a book at home, but I won't be able to post an answer until Monday.
