22re stroked to 2.7?
Hello
Truck info:
1988 toyota 4 runner, 5 sp 4x4 with 350 K + miles on org motor .
Does any one have any information about stroking a 1988 4 runner 22re motor from 2.4 to 2.7 ? And if there is such a crank , what kind of mods does the 22 re block needs. and where do I look for the 2.7 crank.
I know there are 2.7 diesel trucks out there , that we dont have it in the states. And I also know Lc engineering sales it , but $ 1080 for a crank is way too much. for another $800 i can do a 4,3 chevy swap.
Any help greatly appreciated.
Eddie M.

Best bet is to contact http://www.lcengineering.com/
They make a stroker kit and just about every other aftermakret gizmo for the 22RE that you could ever want.

no such thing as an R series with a displacement of 2.7l. LC engineering makes a 2.6 stroker kit, but i think it's more money than its worth in most cases.
many people consider the long stroke of the 22R to be it's horsepower limiting factor.

nope, they've pretty much got the monopoly on the 22R stroker kits. that's probably why they run well over $2000...it's rare and exotic in the toyota world. 347 fords and 383 chevies are all over the place, but lots of companies make stroker kits for them.

Would stock 88 5 sp d tranny be strong enough for the task ?

try toyotaperformance.com, they sell LCE parts and their own. They sell the LCE stroker crank and their own stroker crank that is half the price. Plus I've seen a stroker cranl somewhere else, but I don't remember where. So NO LC Engineering does not have a monopoly on 22r stroker kts.
