22re starting problems help needed ASAP

22re starting problems help needed ASAP

A buddy of mine just installed a new timing chain and now it wont even start...oil pump seals leak after installed new ones and how could he find TDC without someone else helping?

For every one rotation on the crank the cam rotates twice... Given this... it would be easy for someone whos new to this job to get the number one cylinder to TDC and have the cam 180 degrees out of time.

actually you have it wrong, the crank rotates twice for every rotation of the cam.

to find TDC, bring the notch on the crank pulley to where the "0" is on the oil pump. install the distributor and try to run it. if it won't run, pull the distrbutor, rotate the engine over one more time and try it. that should do the job.
