22re low compression #1 cylinder

I just replaced short block. If cam timing is off one link, can it cause this problem? Thanx

50 is way to low...got to be over 100 for combustion.

I moved the chain one tooth...Made no difference......Head was cleaned, surfaced ...valves checked out good......Honed short block, new rings....all the rest are firing so well that when disconnected individually, engine dies. When I pull #1, no change.

OK....I seem to have adequate compression but cylinder doesn't fire.....pulled injector and applied 12 volts to it and it works.........Should I read 12 volts across injector plug contacts when running ?

is the injector plugged? you said it works, does that mean you can hear it click when current is applied, or have you tested it with fluid under pressure. I'm visualizing an old turkey baster with a length of rubber tubing fit over the end of the injector that plugs into the fuel rail to apply the pressure. Then apply current and see if it sprays. I can see this creating a pretty major fire hazard though. I'm sure toyota sells some expensive test tools to do it more safely. Have buddy w/fire extingusher nearby! :fireman:

You can see if the injector is firing by putting a screw driver on it and feeling it click. What does the spark plug look like after you've had it running? Is it wet? If not then the injector isn't spraying fuel. If it is, then you have a spark issue with that cylinder.

Is the injector supplied with 12 volts to fire or is the voltage constant and it is supplied with the ground? Thanx, Gary
