2004 toyota 4runner transmission dipstick filler tube
Hi,
I am new to the forums. I have a 2004 toyota 4runner and the transmission oil dipstick filler tube is two pieces. One goes from the top of the engine and meets with the other part down by the oil pan. Some how the two pieces broke apart and transmission fluid is leaking. Doe anybody know if I need just the top part of the tube and how it would be fasten to the bottom part? Do I need to get a new transmission oil pan as well? Are there some kind of clamps or fasteners that hold the two pieces together? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Not sure If this info is correct for an '04 but from '02 back the bottom part of the tube is one piece with the pan-
The top part is slightly smaller than the bottom part and just slips inside it, and there is an o-ring to seal it.
You didn't say which part of the tube is cracked, but if it's the bottom one you could pull the pan and have a shop braze the tube where it is cracked.
I'm sure a pan assy in not cheap.
Are you sure the o-ring is not just leaking where the two halves join or is there a crack for sure?
The top part is attached to the engine with a bolt on the back of the head I think. if that is the broken part you would prob be better off getting a new top tube from a dealer. Make sure you get the o-ring with it.
