Note to Mods - I know this is a fab question but its very year specific.

I do not have any experience with winch bumpers specifically. I was going to build a non-winch bumper because I am sick of the "fat lip" and my poor approach angle/wheel clearance. My future brother-in-law is a professional welder and has offered to help me make my own bumpers.

I was not planning on making a winch bumper but the thought has crossed my mind because I currently have open diffs.

Is there any company that will make weld-on frame end caps and a winch plate for a 2002 4runner for me to base my design on? I have seen the trail gear winch plates for older vehicles. Can i mod one of those to work?

How is a winch oriented? I have seen the basic plate from Budbuilt. I have been examining every bumper out there but most protect the winch so well, I cannot see how it mounts.
