I talked to steve, because I really like the look with the 2 topouts on Tundra's and LC coils. He said I shouldn't do that because it will droop to far. This would be 2.5-3.0 of lift up front. Anyone have this and have any issues? I have the SS Diff Drop installed.

 

I should've said what is required to run 2 topout spacers safely with not destroying CV's. Limiting straps, bringing up the bumpstops, etc. Anything?

probably limiting straps because it actually makes the shock longer and ruins the guts of the shock because of overextension.

if you want just limit strap the front so that it doesnt droop so far. however I have donahoes on now, that droop 2 inchs past those ome 86 or whatever shocks and 2 top outs and im really gonna start bustin CVs, but ill have man hubs so highway speeds i dont care.

 

I doubt it is worth the extra 1/4-1/2 inch you will gain. Steve knows what he is talking about.

 

Yea. I just really wanna get as level on the Tundra/LC lift as I can. How bad would it been compromising and running the spacer from ToyTec that provides approx. 3/4" of lift.

 

Done it and didn't hardcore wheel it had no problems. Being one who trouble finds I added the limit straps just in case and no problems what so ever. Pm me for pictures. As for level yes its level oh what the hell heres the pics.

is there any other way of attaching the limit straps without doing some welding to the frame? is there a way or strap that will make use of stock bolts/boltholes, but is just as effective?

Also, do you have a pic on how and where the lower part of the strap is attached?

The lower portion attaches to a longer bolt that replaces your existing lower shock bolt. The upper should probably only be attached via the weld method. Since it's Sonoran's design ask him, but I'm pretty sure he'll tell you the weld on is the most trouble free effective method. All the aditional p#'s you'll need are listed on his site. The only thing you buy from him are the tabs for the weld on portion. Kartek supplies the straps and those guys are awesome to deal with, I tehn ordered the rest (bolt and nut) from toyotapartsales.com. I think given the strap length the problem arises of using a stock location, not to mention the sudden stress that might be applied to a wheel off the ground. I know other companies make the straps like procomp but I've seen them in person and are no way comparable to the pyrotec straps (designed for racing rigs).

It was bound to happen 1 day or another but I still like you. A bit. Only reason I don't like rake is well I just don't I tow a trailer and she doesn't sag much, therefore staying level. I also load it up when we go camping and again I need it level, oh and did I mention the rake look sucks!

Wow. That looks awesome. Are those the 285/75/16 Nittos? What exactly is YOUR definition of Hardcore off roading? And was that your though about not wheeling before or after you added the limiting straps.

 

Nope 295.75.16 Nitto's I shop tires by actual size (can be found on manufactures site) only because early on I had a set of 285 Interco SSR's that were 33.9" diam. When taking it easy we found some mud and some flexxy spots w/o limit straps with limit straps lets see we went to Tellico in June and did some minor trails was very fun got some dents in my bud built plates and slid some bedliner off my sliders, not hardcore just trail riding. I have no intention of wheeling hard core just overland travel with the sound knowledge that she's extremely capable if the need arises.

Isn't the point of the rake w/ a setup like SS#1 for the "ultimate in offroadability"? At least that's what I remember from reading the lift kit descriptions on Steve's site. Adding the spacers seems like it screws with the geometry. I suppose it it's for cosmetic purposes then it makes sense but I wouldn't spend > $1000 on a lift and then compromise it with extra spacers.

 

Well I've got the lift soooo do whatever you want! I mean it is your money and you obviously side with the rake group as I side with the non rake group. I mean added clearance would make me think good things, especially if your clearing bigger meats, the lower you are the more you'll rub. I mean were not talking hug e differences but seriously why would he offer the limit straps unless .... oh yeah thats right running another spacer or lift bigger than 2.5". But like I said do what you want your rig is being built for your needs not mine.
