Alright guys have a couple questions for you 2.7 (3rz) guys..Excuse my crappy typing as my enter key is broked. Anyway with the recent totaling of my 91, If I can get enough I'd like a newer taco. Single cab, 4x4 (obviously), 5speed, 2.7. On to the questions, does the timing chain in these babies need to be changed out every so often like the 22re's? Also I know they have the exhaust manifold problems do aftermarket headers fix that..? I've looked around and havent found much in the form of answers, but im bout to go look on ttora. Any help would be appreciated. Oh, and to anyone with above mentioned setup just with an auto, what do you think about it, Should I hold out for a nice one with a 5 speed ?

dont forget to ask about the recovery points on the new pickups. you like to put alot of miles on those

toyota seems to have solid auto and manual transmissions. i dont read much about any of them having issues. i dont think you will go wrong with either. auto gives you lazy, care free, notice the trees type of wheeling. manual will give you more power at the wheels and a few more miles per gallon, but you already know all of that. id never get another auto for a street car but ill be damned if i dont love the auto in the 4R lol

Chains gernally don't have to be replaced much i vehicle that have timing chains. They can sometimes last the life of the motor depending on how well its taken care of, oil changes, ect. THe 2.7 is a very solid motor and 98% of them ever made are still rollin around. The 22res are relatively the same way and one of the toughest yota motors ever made. You could def go with some durable aftermarket headers. Headers increase HP and sound better too.

here you go scuba it is a direct factory replacement no need for a whole new exahaust system after a header this baby bolts right up.

I haven't heard about any need for replacement of the chain but don't hold me to that. TTORA is your friend when it comes to this engine there is years of reading about it.

I love my engine and would be hard pressed to change one thing about it- it gets good gas mpg and has decent power.
