2.4Liter Compression Test

Im about to buy a 1996 Taco for winter, and as much as i tried to get the 2.7liter like the one that was in my Runner, all i could find for a good price was a 2.4.

Im driving back out tomorow to do a compression test on it, but cant find anywhere what a healty Comp Test on these motors should look like.

Does anyone know what the 2.4 Comps at??

Between 160 and 180 is good for a 9.5:1 engine. Consistence between cylinders is the important part.

The "rule of thumb" is 10% between the highest and lowest numbers.
There is also a right way and a wrong way to do a compression test. For the most accurate numbers, remove all the spark plugs and hold the throttle wide open.
Hope this helps
