1st gen runner 15X10 rims fit?

Does anyone know if 15X10" rims with a 3.625 backspace fit on a first gen ('87) 4Runner with a 4" procomp lift?

I've done some searching as well, all I can find is articles about 2nd gens...... The rims are ProComp Extreme Alloy 1869s if that makes a difference.

With that wide a rim (too wide for the tire size if you ask me), you're probably gonna get some rubbing in turns with only a 4" lift. Go to 8" rims or add another couple inches of lift.

Thumbs up 15x10 will fit

Those wheels and tires will fit just fine.

I have had 15x10 Weld wheels with 3-5/8" back spacing on my 4Runner for 9 years. I did have the Trailmaster 4" lift and removed it last month. I ran 33x15.50, 33x12.50, 35x12.50, and now 31x12.50 tires without a problem.

Has anyone else had any experience with this wheel/tire size combo?

I've had no problems with 33x12.5 on 10 wheels and a 4" lift. I am now running 33x12.5 on 8.5" wheels and like that a lot better.

Hey guys, according to the place I'm getting my tires, I shouldn't put a 33X12.5 on a 8" wide rim? What is everyone's opinion, and has this been done before with no problems?

Lightbulb BFG and Super Swamper tires on 15x10

33x15.50: Super Swamper TSL-SX
33x12.50: BFG Long Trail
35x12.50: BFG MT
(also 33x14.50 M/T Baja and 35x12.50 BFG AT on other 15x10 steel wheels)

I didn't have any problems with 33x12.50 or 33x14.50. The 35's rubbed on the front fenders so I trimmed them and added Bushwacker cut-out flares. When I ran the 33x15.50's I already had the cut-outs. If you plan on running 33x12.50 tires and 15x10 wheels, you should be fine with 4" lift and no front fender trimming.

Keep in mind you might want some sort of fender flares (cut-out or not) to keep mud and other stuff off the windshield and sides of the truck.

Thanks 89 4Runner.

Will mentioned to me that the 33X12.5 don't stick out to far from the edge of the rim on a 15X10.... did you ever have problems with rim damage, and would it be suggested to go with a 15X8 to fix that problem?

I haven't had any problems with rim damage, but I don't go rock crawling either. Sure the 12.50 tires don't protect the 10" wheels much, but it depends on what you want to do with the truck and what size wheels are available. I just checked BFG's site and it shows 8.5"-11" wides rims recommended for 33x12.50 tires. I have only used 10" rims so I can't comment on anything narrower. I can just say I have had 10" rims for 14 years on my truck without any problems.

Probably more than half of all the 12.50 tires out there are on 8 inch rims, certainly the majority of real off-roaders prefer them. No problems there.

I ran most any tire combo you can think of on my 85 with a 4" lift, and nothing ever came close to hitting the fenders. The floor (firewall at the pinch weld) was the point of impact, but even then not with 4" and 33s. 10" rims and 35s rubbed the drag link the pinch weld (I beat it back, but the tires still rubbed the spot) the bumper, everything except the fenders. (I only ran them one weekend, just wanted to see how they fit. They didn't. No way could you run 35s on 10s and take it out of the mall without some serious contact. <grin>

Is a 33X12.5 tire more stable on a 10" rim caompared to a 8" rim? I would think so, I just want someone to back me up... Also, besides protection of the rim by using an 8" rim, are there any other benefits, or downsides to using a 33X12.5 on an 8" rim, such as excess heat, or ability to air down, etc.?

The tire should actually be more stable (highway type stability) on the 10", but in reality it probably makes no discernible difference. I can tell you that with 8's the tires will barely stick out, with 10s they will stick way out (same offset - the 2" extra width is all outboard.) That actually increases cornering ability, but it's no fun for rain and mud (and gravel!) to be thrown all over you, and the cops might hassle you too.
Protecting the rim isn't much of a consideration, but protecting the sidewall of the tire sure is.

one reason i run my 33's on an 8" is because when i go 4wheeling i usually air down my tires. with less air in your tire you will have a greater chance of losing a bead on a 10" compared to an 8". however, if this isn't an issue for you a 10" will probably work fine.

With these tires on a 8" rim compared to the 10" rim, with both rims at the same offset, will the extra amount of tire inside the wheel well caused by the 8" rim give me any interference with steering, suspension, or body components?
