Question 1st gen gears

where does every one get their diffs from when they change their tires ie.4.3-5.28? from other toyotas or aftermarket?

Both! I got mine from aftermarket dealer and had them installed. A friend of mine got a set of used 3rds and we installed them

thanks,what trucks/toyotas are u getting lower gears or 3rd members from?

The gears my friend got were from a guy that had them for sale in the classifieds section. I don't really know what veh. came with certain gears. I'm sure someone else on here can answer that.

i would recommend, that if you do get gears, 5.29's are the best for 33's or bigger, and if its a street queen 5.71's for 35's or bigger, a lot of aftermarket companies make different ratios for Toyota diffs, if you have a 84-85 runner you will have a 8" diff in the front and rear, if its a 86-89 you will have a 8" rear and 7.5" front, and if its a v6, you will have a "v6" 8" rear
