Does anyone know if a 2000 tacoma 6" fabtech lift kit will fit my 1999 tacoma. (I know its kinda of a stupid question but I just want to know for sure before i put $1300 on my visa). my truck is a 1999 tacoma SR5 2.7L with manual hubs, and im looking at buying this lift ---> http://www.car-stuff.com/1999toyotat...pensionkit.htm


And yes i know it says right on the website that is fits but when i called to order it the guy said there is no kit for the year 1999 but there is one for the year 2000.

also when u go to buy the fabtech shocks at the same website there is no 1999 sr5 2.7L options. all they have is the year 2000 sr5 2.7L. WTF!!!

Its the same kit and it will fit your 99. But, its not a good kit. You'll be much happier in the long run with a simple 2-3" coilover lift.
The fabtech lift is irreversible.

 

agreed dont do it unless your a mall crawler.

 

With that much lift, you'll probably want to run 33 to 35 tires too... which with your 2.7L you'll want to regear.

just something to think about.

 

OK after some further research and your guys great advise, i decided to go with a 3" kit but i was wondering is there anybody out there that makes a 4" or a 5" kit that will fit with my 2.7L. And if not and i have to use the 3" kit can i run 33x12.5 tires. one last thing, who makes the best 3" kit. Thx for all your help so far

 

more like with ur 2.7, you'll want to smack urself for ever getting anything bigger than stock tires. Dont do a fabtech lift - they suck.

 

I work at the local Toyota dealership, and we had a Tacoma that came in with a Fabtech 5 inch kit that had all sorts of parts, Fabtech and stock, that broke when they decided to jump it. Fabtech says they are 6 months out from producing those parts that broke on that truck, so they'll be waitin' for a while.....but that powdercoat on those Fabtech parts sure looked purddy!!! hahaha

I doubt that many parts would've broke if they just had the stock suspension and didn't have that Fabtech kit on there.

 

I just installed coilovers in the front and new leafs in the rear and got 3 1/2" front and 2 1/2" rear, i'm going to be installing 33's after I get an allignmant and I figure if I have to i'll do a 1 or 2" body lift to fit them.

 

the 3 inch kit will let you run 33's with no rub maybe, but if you want 35's you'll have to do some cutting. and the 2.7 will turn those tires fine youll just have to regear. the max you should go with tire size and not regearing is 32 unless your truck came stock with smaller tires then 31's.

 

i've got 3'' on my rig and im running 33x12.50's but you have to make sure you get the wheels offset correctly if not they will scrub. I have crager 15x8 steel wheels dont remember the offset but you will regret it if ur wrong 12.50's will scrub like crazy. i have pictures of my truck on my album
